2016: Wholehearted

Hey beautiful human! I’m Zoey!

I’m a fresh young lady who hails from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, but can usually be found jumping into cars or planes, saying yes to new possibilities! I have a history in dance and music, but lately, my days tend to revolve around living in an optimistic rawness & capturing it through my cameras. Yes, people pay me to take photos, but even when I’m off the job, I’m endlessly inspired to capture & share ordinary moments of truth and beauty through my images in hopes of inspiring others in personal, connective ways. Community is a huge passion of my heart, and I’m ever striving to help people embrace the realness of who they are, because everyone has value. My go-to activities include anything involving true people, rad places, and doughnuts. Huge emphasis on the doughnut part. I have a masters degree in spontaneity, and use it daily.

When I was asked what my intentions were for the new year, it’s kind of funny because one of my intentions is to continue to be intentional. No joke. But I’ll elaborate.

For me, 2015 was a major year of newness and growth! One of the lifestyle choices I adopted was to really put purpose behind everything I did (shoutout to Justin Bieber – looks like we both found our way this past year. Except I don’t have a killer album to show for it. Is it too late now to say sorry?)

But Biebs aside, being purposeful about intentionality was really a game changer. Once I figured out why I wanted to be doing the things I was doing, and cut out mindless unintentional aspects of life, it really narrowed down to me ONLY doing things I wanted to be doing – and with 100% passion! From the photos I shot, to the relationships I poured into, the trips I took, the jobs I worked, and even the content I posted on my social medias – I told myself I had to have thoughtful reasons for doing things.  So for 2016, I have intentions of continuing to be intentional in my relationships, passion, business, and most everything in the coming year.

With that mindset, I’ve chosen to describe my intentional attitude as ‘wholehearted’

All in. All there. From the core of who I am, flowing out into everything I do. wholehearted

After stumbling around 2015 with plenty of lessons learned, I aim for 2016 to be the start of my true wholeheartedness.

I have a lot of big plans and goals in mind, and if I’m not ALL IN to do them, 2017 is going to roll around and I’ll be like “Oh. Shoot.”

But I don’t plan on that ‘oh shoot’ happening.

Because 2016 will be about courage – putting my young age aside and not being held back by standards of success. I’ll do things that surprise others. I’m sure I’ll do things that surprise even me.

It’ll be about balance – knowing when to say my ‘yes’ and when to give my ‘no’. What are my ultimate goals and are my answers to everything in-between helping me get to my ultimates?

And most of all – it will be about others – encouraging and inspiring more hearts to find their wholeheartedness and run wild. Everything I wish for myself, I wish for others – to find their courage and balance. I want to grown through and with others. I want to have adventures and experiences with as many other intentional human beings as I can. I will continue to create. I will continue to discover.

And I look forward to every single moment.

So here’s to wholehearted beginnings, when you have the feeling that the end will be nothing but brilliant.

We want to hear your stories as well. If you have chosen to choose your life this year and would like to share your intentions, please share it in the comments below, or email Kylie at bemyintention@gmail.com.
Here’s to a New Year full of great big changes!

So agreed with being courageous, and not let social standards of success limit us or even define us! This is something I’m doing as well personally and professionally, glad someone else also feels the same way. Let’s surprise the world (togetherrrr)!
