Featuring: Kicheko Goods + A week of giveaways

If you would have asked me two years ago if I would be willing to give up my shopping sprees at Forever 21 and pursue a life of advocation for social goods companies via a blog I probably would have laughed and told you that I didn’t even understand the sentence that just came out of your mouth. When a passion for change hits you it can be a head on collision that you never saw coming. And that is exactly how bemyintention got its start. I never anticipated the changes that have come in the last year of my life, but I wouldn’t give it up for the world.

The same could be said for Sarah Bayot, the Founder and Designer of Kicheko Goods. When she was working on her M.A. in International Affairs & Development she had hopes to be an advocate for the Congo, but never imagined that jewelry would be her avenue to do that.

In 2011 Sarah co-led a missions group to the Congo. After witnessing the results of one of the deadliest conflicts since World War II she became even more passionate to make a difference. She was able to recognize how hard this conflict was hitting the future of the children in these communities, so she started Kicheko Goods and a partnership with a locally-led organization was formed to provide primary education through the Mango Tree School in Uvira.

How is Kicheko Goods making an impact?

With each purchase through Kicheko Goods you are providing a scholarship for a child in the Congo to attend school for a month. Through the growing consumer base in the last few years Kicheko Goods has been able to provide school fees and supplies to orphaned children, as well as helped construct a 6- classroom brick school building.

As a chance to take a stand for the education of these little ones Kicheko Goods and I have partnered up to bring some goodies your way. We hope to use this opportunity to show off some of their beautiful products as well as share their story! This week long giveaway starts on Instagram today. Simply head over to Instagram and follow @bemyintention and @kichekogoods. Check out my giveaway posts and tag two of your friends who would like a chance to win a set of these gorgeous earrings to finalize your entry. A new pair will be given away each day this week, so you have multiple chances to win! I will be announcing a winner each night as the contest closes for the day.
