After lots of consideration and weighing different ideas, I have decided to make a few changes around here (at bemyintention.)
Last seasons fashion posts had all been shot in one singular photo shoot. Which was an awesome way for me to spend a day with a dear friend, playing dress up and enjoying good company. But, my heart is in a little different place.
I want to be real. And more practical and forward. I want to help you all see how a real live person functions on a day to day, versus the perfection that is so often presented to us via pinterest and fashion blogs. That was the whole point of me starting this thing in the first place. I want to keep some honest perspective for you to see how a real person makes fashion, beauty, and feeling good about life a part of her every day life.
So instead of having a photo shoot with a friend and spending the day with perfect hair and makeup and a bit of photo shop, I have chosen to get ready in the morning, set up a camera myself, and show you what’s really happening in my life.
Because let’s face it: I’m not wearing false lashes to work everyday, heels aren’t practical for my life, and I rarely wash my hair.
BUT I still manage to feel great, and put together most days.
So here’s the real scoop:
Today I rolled out of bed at 8:20, ate breakfast, hung out with the cats, showered, got dressed and done up, took these photos, and was out the door by 9:15. And this is my real life. How did I do it… let me enlighten you.
- Truth & Trick #1: I haven’t washed my hair in three days and still didn’t today. I wore my hair in a bun yesterday, as you saw, and when I pulled it down I got lucky enough to have kept some of my curl from the previous day. I brushed it out and it worked. I used a little KMS Makeover Spray in my roots to soak up some oils, and back combed a teeny bit for some volume. Voila, Day 4 hair. Brush and go. (Let me promise that it’s not always this easy.)
- Truth & Trick #2: I was in a little bit of a hurry today, so my makeup took the backseat. You’d never know because, Lipstick. When I’m in a rush I opt for a gold shimmer shadow across my lid, and use whatever’s left over from yesterday’s crease brush to create a little definition. Mascara. Face. And a bold lip color. Quick and painless… but totally put together.
- Truth & Trick #3: My capsule wardrobe saves me everyday. I usually start thinking about my outfit as im doing my hair and makeup, but know that when it comes down to it I can peek in my closet, grab anything, and go.
On another note It is a gloriously unexpected 70 degrees in Kansas City today so I made sure to take the time to enjoy an amazing morning in a coffee shop with a beautiful friend. And she whipped out these beautiful thank you cards from The Thank You Initiative. Aren’t these great?!
I hope you all enjoy the rest of this beautiful day! Are they any other real life fashion secrets you’d like me to expose? Let me know in the comments below!
